We offer self-catering accommodation in private lodges and family lodges (hereinafter referred to as "lodge accommodation"). We also offer sleeping bag accommodation in cabins (hereinafter referred to as "cabin accommodation"). Lodges and cabins are together referred to as "units".
These terms and conditions apply to all online bookings for accommodation at Þjórsárdalur Lodges & Cabins.

Please make sure your vehicle or rental car is suitable for the season and road conditions, and that you have all appropriate insurance.
Please monitor weather forecasts on safetravel.is and official road conditions on road.is.
We strongly advise all guests to have valid travel insurance (such as "Cancel for Any Reason" travel insurance), which should be available in your country of residence, and to keep the above in mind when making travel arrangements.

Group reservations of 6–10 units may be cancelled or modified without penalty up to 60 days before arrival, using the link in your confirmation email.
After these deadlines, cancellations and changes are not refunded. The same applies to no-shows.
We reserve the right to cancel or modify bookings if we are unable to provide our services. In that case, the guest is entitled to a full refund of any amount already paid. Þjórsárdalur is, however, not responsible for finding alternative accommodation for guests.

Safety standards, liability and Force Majeure

Þjórsárdalur disclaims responsibility for any loss, damage, accident, sickness or change in schedule caused by a Force Majeure event, and for any expenses resulting from one. Force Majeure events include, but are not limited to, strikes, labour disputes, lockouts, interruption or failure of electricity or heating, natural disasters (including volcanic activity), epidemics and quarantines, and any other irregularity outside our control. All such losses and expenses are the personal liability of the guest.
When a recognized Force Majeure event directly affects Þjórsárdalur and prevents us from providing the booked accommodation, the guest shall be entitled to a full refund of the amount paid for the booking. This refund shall be the guest's sole remedy in respect of the booking, and Þjórsárdalur shall not be responsible for any additional losses, costs or expenses arising from the Force Majeure event.
When entering our facilities and the surrounding area, guests assume full responsibility for their own safety and the safety of those in their care.
Þjórsárdalur does not organise tours or activities. Hiking and any other activities in the area are undertaken entirely at the guest's own risk. Guests should check weather and trail conditions, stay on marked paths, and be properly equipped.

Photographs, films and social content

Photographs, films or social content taken at our facilities may not be used for any commercial purpose without prior written consent from Þjórsárdalur. We reserve the right to seek compensation for any use that breaches these conditions.

General provisions

Always follow instructions from our staff. Failure to comply, or inappropriate behaviour, can result in immediate expulsion from our facilities.
Please use designated walking paths where applicable. Þjórsárdalur is a valley of waterfalls, hot springs and historic sites. We respect its unique nature and ask you to do the same.
Pets are not permitted in any lodge, cabin or facility at Þjórsárdalur.
All lodges, cabins and facilities at Þjórsárdalur are non-smoking. If smoking occurs in any unit or facility, the guest will be charged a cleaning fee equal to the price of one night in the booked unit.
If a lodge, cabin or other facility is left excessively unclean, the guest will be charged for the additional cleaning required. This can include, but is not limited to, deep cleaning and professional cleaning of floors, furniture and kitchen appliances. The charge will be applied to the guest's credit card, and a detailed invoice will be provided.
Any claim, action or lawsuit arising from these terms and conditions or the services purchased shall be interpreted and governed in accordance with Icelandic law. For any legal dispute, both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the District Court of Reykjavík.
